Knowing Jesus

"My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand..." (Jesus the good shepherd, from John Chapter 10)

Many people around the world, of all cultures and backgrounds, have a story to tell about Jesus changing their lives in a deep and meaningful way.   Christians (followers of Jesus) believe that Jesus accomplished something on the cross that was to change the world forever, taking all of our 'sins' (or mess-ups) that can separate us from a relationship with God onto himself on the cross.

We can find restored lives and a new peace with God through all that Jesus accomplished.  We can be forgiven and set free from the many things that can bind us in this life, not because of our own abilities and achievements but because of God's love for us in sending Jesus.

One of the most well-known verses in the bible is this: "For God so loved the world that he sent his only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."  'Whoever' means anyone!  And that's the good news about Jesus that we celebrate as Christians.

But it doesn't end there.  Once we've been changed then we are called to become agents of change in our world too - Serving others and living with the same kind of grace towards others that we have been shown by God.  And just as we were reconciled with God through Jesus, all of us are called to become 'ministers of reconciliation' in the world.  What a high calling!  But it's for each and every one of us, whether we feel worthy of it or not.  And we journey with this calling together, not alone, but as a church family, loving and supporting each other, and together discovering more and more about what a living Christian faith can mean for us.
